Choose the light for the job.
Beam, controls and useful runtime matter as much as the number on the box.
Start with the distance.
A light for finding something in your bag has a different job from one used across an open space. Decide whether you need a broad pool of light nearby, a more concentrated beam at a distance, or both. Compare beam distance alongside output.
Look beyond maximum lumens.
Lumens describe total light output; they do not tell you the whole shape of the beam. Compare the modes you would actually use and the runtime stated for each. A headline maximum is not a promise of the same output throughout a shift.
Try the everyday details.
Look at the switch position, grip, pocket clip and dimensions. Consider how you will carry it and whether the controls suit the gloves you normally wear. Read the exact model’s water-resistance and charging instructions.
Make a short comparison.
For each option, note the useful mode, published runtime, charging method, size and price. Bring us those two or three models and explain the task. We can help check the specifications without steering you towards the biggest light by default.
