An island name. A local purpose.

A small island with a working history.

Ordnance Island sits in St George’s Harbour, Bermuda. Covering about 1¾ acres, it was formed by joining several smaller islands through land reclamation.

During the nineteenth century it served as an army ordnance depot, supplying the forts and batteries around St George’s. During the Second World War it was used by the United States Navy as a submarine base.

The island also marked the start and finish of Dodge Morgan’s solo, nonstop voyage around the world in 1985–86.

Our name draws on that local connection: an island associated with equipment, service and getting ready for the task ahead.
