FIELD NOTES / GLOVES

A better fit for the task.

Start with the work, then compare fit, dexterity and the protection stated for that exact glove.

Match the glove to the task.

Think about the grip, dexterity and weather conditions you need to work in. A lightweight everyday glove and a specialist protective glove serve different purposes. Read the model’s specifications and your workplace requirements before choosing.

Use the correct size guide.

Check whether the manufacturer measures hand length, circumference or both. Use the illustrated measuring points and compare the result with that model’s chart. A close fit should still allow the movement the task requires.

Read protection claims carefully.

Do not assume a glove provides protection from heat, chemicals, sharps or electrical hazards because it looks robust. Rely on the manufacturer’s stated ratings and instructions, and any assessment required by your employer.

Look after the fit.

Follow the care label, check for damage and replace gloves when their condition or the manufacturer’s instructions call for it. Ask us if you need help finding a model’s sizing or care information.
